The A.I. Revolution is here. But actually, it’s less of a revolution and more of an evolution. A.I. is what happens any time we use algorithms for things we typically do as humans. You’ve probably heard about ChatGPT. It’s an example of generative A.I. which is modeled on neural networks. As an education professor, I’m not an A.I. expert. I’m more interested in asking, “How do we do authentic learning in an age of smart machines?” Here are some of my videos and articles.
Making Sense of an Unpredictable World
Right now, we are having a cultural moment where we are recognizing the power of Artificial Intelligence. It’s been a slow build. Auto-correct here. Grammarly suggestion there. An auto-fill option in G-mail and in Google Searches. A small chat at the bottom left-hand corner with AI who will help you get that refund on the flight you purchased from Expedia. But it always felt small and in the margins. But then ChatGPT came along and suddenly we are left asking, “What does this mean for the future of work? What does mean for teaching and learning?”
The bad news is that the rules have changed. The exciting news is that our students will get to re-write the rules. For years, students have been told about a corporate ladder. But our students won’t have a ladder. They’ll need to navigate a maze instead.
So, in my blog, I explore the intersection of authentic learning in a changing world.
You can look at my articles below. I also make videos on the topic and I’ve been interviewing experts (some of whom will be featured in my podcast). I’m not an A.I. expert but I am on a journey to find out how we can respond to it so our students can be more self-directed and adaptable.

KEYNOTES
How Will We Respond to the A.I. Revolution?
The A.I. Revolution is here. For some, it’s exciting. For others, it feels terrifying. Still others feel baffled and confused by it. Many of us feel a mix of all three emotions. But one thing is clear. It’s here and it’s not going away. In this keynote, we explore how we might adapt and change as we navigate the new terrain of an AI world. We explore the human skills students will need in a world of smart machines. Ultimately, we’ll be reminded of the hope and humanity we continue to have in a time of epic change.
Navigating the Maze
For years, we were taught a formula. Go to school, get good grades, graduate from a university, and climate a corporate ladder. But the ladder is gone and our students will instead navigate a complex maze. We at the beginning of the AI revolution and we can’t predict what this maze will look like. In this keynote, we explore what vital skills students will need to become self-directed learners who can thrive in the maze. We’ll examine how creativity and curiosity can help develop the adaptability students will need as they navigate a complex and unpredictable world fueled by generative A.I.
This is the Future of Education
For all the talk of gadgets and apps, the future of education won’t center around a new content delivery system. The future is in your classroom. It’s with your students. Your school is packed with creative potential. In this keynote, we tackle what the future of education will look like as we shift toward creativity and innovation in a world of smart machines.
Vintage Innovation
The best way to prepare students for the future is to empower them in the present. In this keynote or workshop, we explore what it means to use vintage ideas, tools, and strategies in new and relevant ways. Here, we focus on innovation as a focus on “what is best” rather than “what is next.” Our focus is on how we move forward in a world of smart machines.
WORKSHOPS
Workshops range from 90-minutes to a full day (or multiple days). I would love to meet with your team to plan out something comprehensive and specific to your educator’s needs. Here are the most popular workshop I conduct:
Intentional AI: How to Use Artificial Intelligence in a Deliberate and Ethical Way
The AI Revolution is here. For some, it’s exciting. For others, it feels terrifying. Still others feel baffled and confused by it. Many of us feel a mix of all three emotions. But one thing is clear. It’s here and it’s not going away. In this workshop, we explore how we might adapt and change as we navigate the new terrain of an AI world. We explore the human skills students will need in a world of smart machines. Ultimately, we’ll be reminded of the hope and humanity we continue to have in a time of epic change.
Using AI to Reach All Learners
Differentiated instruction can be a challenge due to time constraints. However, generative AI tools have made it faster and more feasible to design scaffolds and supports that ensure all students can succeed. In this workshop, we’ll explore 7 practical strategies for designing learning supports. We’ll also explore how we can take the initial scaffolds and personalize them based on our knowledge of each student.
AI and the Future of Writing
This workshop explores the forms of AI that teachers will encounter and need to navigate as we move into the future of education. We’ll look at ways AI can benefit both students and teachers, supporting deeper learning while maintaining a human-centered approach. Together, we’ll examine the pedagogical implications of generative AI and explore practical methods for incorporating it into the writing classroom. We’ll walk through the FACTS Cycle as a model for responsible prompt engineering and we’ll dive into four models for AI integration in writing.
AI as a Tool for Inquiry
Too often students leave school less curious than when they arrived. However, many teachers cultivate a mindset of curiosity. Their classrooms are bastions of creativity and wonder. These teachers empower students to ask questions, seek out information, and design solutions built on empathy. In this workshop we explore what it means to spark ongoing curiosity through inquiry-based learning. We’ll use the FACTS Cycle as a starting place for slowing down the prompt engineering process and adding information literacy.
AI as a Productivity Tool: How to Save Time and Focus on What Matters Most
Teachers are busier than ever. Between lesson planning, grading, meetings, and daily classroom management, it can feel like there’s never enough time. But with the right approach, AI can help lighten the load without sacrificing creativity or human connection. In this workshop, we explore how teachers can use AI tools to streamline everyday tasks, boost efficiency, and carve out more time for the work that matters most. We’ll focus on small, practical ways to use AI as an assistant—not a replacement—so you can focus more energy on teaching, relationships, and deeper learning.
AI and Schools: Systems, Ethics, and Data Privacy in a New Era
As AI tools become more powerful and widespread, schools face big decisions about how to use them wisely. It’s not just about finding ways to boost efficiency. It’s about thinking critically about ethics, equity, and data privacy. In this workshop, we explore how school leaders and educators can build systems that leverage AI while protecting student data and promoting transparency. We’ll dig into real-world examples, practical frameworks, and questions every school should be asking as we move into this next chapter of education.
AI For Personalized Learning
While many companies promise a personalized learning experience focused on adaptive learning (students sitting at a computer getting leveled worksheets), authentic personalized learning is centered on the person. In this workshop, we explore how we can design personalized learning with scaffolds, supports, and differentiation using AI We’ll explore how we can design something that is human-centered but AI-informed.
